Redmond caters for children aged 3 - 4 years. Liz and Anotnia both hold 4 year Degrees in Early Education (Teaching). The legislated educator:child ratio is 1:10 for this age group.
Redmond is an inviting space with a variety of different activities and experiences offered across the day. Our goals when inside are to further develop fine motor skills, independence, self confidence , cognitive skills and social skills.
Redmond children participate in Zumba lessons once per week and at times work with Whinham and the children from one of the two local primary schools.
Redmond is a warm and cosy room where children begin their journey of friendships and learning.
The kitchen servery is located in Redmond and the daily smells of the food cooking is a welcoming treat. The children love to chat to the centre cooks and can watch them preparing meals from their indoor play areas.
Redmond has a change table and a bathroom with 3 child sized toilets and sinks to start the process of toileting with your child.
Our yard is filled with shade from two big trees so it’s perfect all year round. The swing is a popular choice for our age group as well as the sandpit which is shaded by a Balinese Hut. The shed is filled with big soft blocks, building equipment, sandpit toys, balls and climbing equipment for use across the day in a variety of ways! Clara is our beautiful rabbit who is fed by the children in the mornings and cared for by all children within the centre during the week.
We have a large sandpit with a water course and numerous garden beds where we grow different things across the year. The children have various swings and climbing structures and a friendly crocodile to sit on. We have tried to grow real grass, however the location of the area is surrounded by tall buildings and it just didn't grow - we do what we can to create other garden spaces and seek to use other grassed areas in the outdoor environments.
Our indigenous, custom designed fencing runs along the back of the yard, which is in honour of a family who attended the centre. It tells the journey of a child's birth and growth as they develop throughout their time in care and learn independence and to fly.
